Situated in picturesque Pembrokeshire, Nantyweirglodd Isaf to give Wellstone Cottages its Welsh name translates as ‘Lower Hay Meadow by the Stream’. Here you will find 23 acres of pasture, mature trees, woodland and riverside & lakeside walks to explore.
Wellstone Cottages is the ideal venue for retreats and wellbeing events. We have four contemporary cottages that can sleep 24 (plus yurts & camping), a large traditional 3-pole marquee, hot tubs, cotton hammocks and secluded peace and tranquillity.
There are numerous activities available on the doorstep to include Surfing, Fishing, Kayaking and Coasteering on the Pembrokeshire Coastline, Walking and Cycling in the Preseli Hills and Dolphin Watching in Cardigan Bay.
The Orb stream runs along the edge of the estate into the upper reaches of the River Taf (it’s been said that there’s Welsh gold in them there hills).
Here you will find ancient woodland carpeted with bluebells in the Spring and a disused railway line that now serves as a lovely walkway looking down to the river. Alternatively, you can choose to walk along the river bank spotting brown trout, dragonflies and kingfishers as you go.
There is a wonderful lake and deep pools in the river for wild swimming or if you prefer you’re welcome to sit with a rod and line and watch the day float by.
Within the immediate grounds of the cottages we have cotton hammocks to relax in, benches to enjoy an evening drink and a makeshift activity area with rope swing, campus climbing board and gymnastic rings.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Ivy Cottage (sleeps 2)
A romantic detached stone cottage with wonderful views of the grounds, Ivy has a beautiful sunny conservatory and its own private hot tub.
The open plan kitchen / diner is ideal for cooking and chatting as you go and the kitchen itself is well equipped.
The conservatory is sunny and warm so you can lounge on the sumptuous leather sofa – all our cottages feature full-fibre broadband and Internet TV.
Through to the large double bedroom you will find a comfortable king size bed with wardrobe and dressing table.
Ivy cottage also benefits from a front patio with BBQ, fire pit and table and chairs overlooking unspoilt views of the grounds.
The sense of privacy here is paramount and you really will feel like you are holidaying in your own slice of paradise.
Honeysuckle (sleeps 4)
Contemporary cosy cottage with views over the grounds and woodland. Honeysuckle is a beautiful semi-detached stone cottage with well proportioned rooms and a lovely cottage garden.
The kitchen comes well equipped and the living room affords plenty of comfortable seating for four.
Upstairs there are two tastefully furnished bedrooms, one a double and one a twin and both flooded with light from the Velux windows. There is also a bathroom with bath, shower, WC and basin.
Full fibre broadband and Internet TV is available for cosy nights in. Outside there is a private cottage garden with views across the grounds, and a table, BBQ and fire pit for dining alfresco.
Jasmine Cottage (sleeps 6)
Jasmine is a beautiful period cottage with a wood burner, well equipped kitchen and three peaceful bedrooms.
Once believed to have been a haberdashery, Jasmine is delightful cottage for friends and family.
The parquet floor entrance hall leads through to a cosy lounge with a wood burner and on to a separate well equipped kitchen with dining area.
There are three beautiful bedrooms complete with period features to include a twin room on the ground floor. There is a ground floor shower room and a bathroom with bath, toilet and wash hand basin is on the first floor.
The back door leads from the kitchen to your own patio with BBQ and firepit overlooking the lovely grounds.
Full-fibre broadband, Internet TV and a well equipped kitchen complete the picture.
Coach House (sleeps 12)
Rendezvous and relax in the cavernous kitchen / diner of Coach House.
Perfect for large groups, parties or families, Coach House has a fabulous open plan kitchen / diner with sumptuous leather sofas, wood burner and large dining table.
With contemporary furnishings and artwork, 50″ TV and Bluetooth speaker, Coach House offers a modern relaxing space to unwind or entertain.
There are five comfortable bedrooms with all beds made up for your arrival. Two are on the ground floor, one a double room and a family room with a double and bunk beds. Stairs lead to three further twin bedrooms.
The well equipped kitchen has two electric ovens, one large gas hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave oven to cater for all your needs. A delightful place to cook all that Welsh produce you will find locally. The dining area has a large table where all twelve of you can enjoy a family get together.
At the back of the property patio doors lead to the garden and patio with BBQ and garden furniture. This overlooks the grounds with views towards the woods. A peaceful relaxing place to sit and pass the time.
Book Coach House & Honeysuckle Cottage to bring up to 16 friends and family together
If you are looking to share accommodation across two cottages then Honey Coach House is the ideal solution. Enjoy gathering together in Coach House safe in the knowledge there is plenty of space next door to enjoy quiet time in Honeysuckle.
Taken together there are seven comfortable bedrooms, two living rooms, two kitchens and four bathrooms.
The patio to the rear of Coach House can easily seat 16 for alfresco dining.
Food & Drink
Enjoy a locally caught fish supper or a picturesque pint
There are plenty of options for wining and dining. Newport is well regarded for pubs and restaurants with Llys Meddyg and The Golden Lion both coming highly recommended.
For an Indian curry at sunset Shampan is well worth a visit, for sundowners we recommend The Teifi Waterside or The Cliff Hotel, while if it’s a friendly local pint you’re after the CAMRA award winning Butchers Arms in Tegryn is less than a mile up the hill. Iechyd da!
