About The Retreat
Step away from the “always-on” world and into a private 5-star sanctuary. Perched on a hillside with panoramic views of Loch Lomond, Ardoch offers 133 acres of exclusive use Highland Wilderness designed for total stillness and mental clarity.
This retreat has been designed to allow you a to reset, find calm and tranquility and most importantly just breathe.
Teachers & Hosts
Your hosts are Nicky Craig and Debbie McClung from Mind, Body and Spirit Events.
Nicky is a Holistic Therapist and trainer with many years experience. She owns Secret Garden Holistic Therapies in Ayrshire and for 4 years has been named “Best Holistic Therapy Specialist” in Scotland in the International Prestige Awards.
Debbie is a former HR trainer and Artistic soul. She has a background in providing both skills related training and lifestyle/wellbeing training and workshops. She also is passionate about Mindful Crafting.
They will be joined by other professionals including Eleanor Gibson, published author and Mindfulness expert.
Schedule / Typical day
The retreat will start with lunch on Friday. There will be time to explore, an activity, dinner and then a further activity all within the beautiful grounds.
The subsequent days will follow a similar pattern with more information to be provided prior to the event.
Access Bars therapy will be available all through the weekend if you choose to have a session.
Cuisine
The retreat is Chef catered. Breakfast will be a choice of continental and/or cooked.
Lunch will be buffet style. A 3 course dinner will be provided. It’s all inclusive with unlimited teas, coffee, water and fruit.
There will be an optional bar service with soft drinks available. Any dietary requirements will be catered to.
Location and how to get there
Ardoch is located on a private 133-acre estate overlooking the south-east side of Loch Lomond, approximately 27 miles from Glasgow city centre.
By Car (Approx. 40–50 minutes)
This is the most direct way to reach the estate.
From Glasgow City Centre: Take the M8 Westbound (towards Greenock/Glasgow Airport).
The Erskine Bridge: Exit at Junction 30 for the Erskine Bridge (A898).
The A82: Once over the bridge, stay in the left lane to join the A82 following signs for Crianlarich/Dumbarton.
The A811: Continue on the A82 through Dumbarton. At the Lomondgate Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A811 (signed for Stirling/Gartocharn).
Gartocharn: Follow the A811 for about 3 miles. As you approach the village of Gartocharn, look for the private tree-lined drive for Ardoch on your left.
By Train (Approx. 1 hour)
The nearest station is Balloch, which is about a 10-minute taxi ride from the estate.
Departure: Take a direct train from Glasgow Queen Street (Low Level) to Balloch. Trains typically run every 30 minutes. Journey time is approximately 45–50 minutes.
On Arrival: There is a taxi rank directly outside Balloch station. We recommend pre-booking a taxi as Ardoch is a few miles outside the main village. Ask for “Ardoch House near Gartocharn.”
From Glasgow Airport (Approx. 30 minutes)
By Taxi: A pre-booked airport taxi is the fastest method (approx. 30 minutes).
By Car Rental: Follow signs for the M8 Westbound (Greenock) and then follow the “By Car” instructions above starting from the Erskine Bridge (Junction 30).
By Public Transport: Take the Glasgow Airport Express (Bus 500) to the city centre, then follow the Train instructions above from Queen Street Station.
